Robbie Williams fans now have a sneak peek at what promises to be one of the most unusual biopics in history: Better Man. We tell you what it’s about and what we know about this production below.
Robbie Williams tells his story through a monkey?
This film, directed by Michael Gracey who is best known for his work on The Greatest Showman, uses an unexpected and unique approach to tell us about the life of the British singer through a computer-generated monkey.
Throughout the film, actor Jonno Davies portrays Williams through motion-capture technology, portraying his rise from a troubled childhood to stardom with the boy band Take That and his subsequent solo career. The film also explores the dark moments of fame, as well as the singer’s personal struggles.
The trailer that was just released sparked the interest of more than one person, as it is a musical biopic that is quite different from what we are used to.
A peculiar but honest biography
The first trailer for Better Man has made it clear that the film will hold nothing back. Robbie Williams lends his voice to his ape alter ego as he recounts his highs and lows of fame with scenes that include shows under the Christmas lights and also a contrasting raw account of his experiences with success and excess.
Reviews so far have been positive, it has already been screened at festivals such as the Telluride Film Festival and the film’s honesty has been highlighted.
With all of the above, this film is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated thanks to its rarity that promises to be moving and keep us hooked on learning more about the singer’s life. Here is the trailer.
